Cohousing is about living more closely alongside each other, knowing your neighbours, and being involved in community life. All residents agree to give a small amount of their time to the running of Bridport Cohousing. Whatever that may be and however small it may seem, every contribution has value to the community.

In this current phase we work together to welcome new members, plan life at Hazelmead and oversee the work of our professional partners. We also support each other, run social events and maintain a shared allotment at Flaxhayes.
At Hazelmead, we’ll be working in groups to grow food, maintain the site, manage the neighbourhood and organise and host events. Working with a purpose together will strengthen social relationships and our capacity to care for each other. Depending on ability and interests there will be an important contribution you can make to our shared life.
Sociocracy and the decision-making process
As a community BC uses a system of organisation called sociocracy to ensure that all voices are heard in the process of making decisions.
See how we’re using it in our organisation, and find further information on our resources page.
