In May we got the wonderful news from the National Lottery Community Fund that they were going to fund our idea for the common house and have awarded us £17,186 for essential things like tables and chairs for the main room, a range cooker, dishwasher and other equipment for the kitchen, fittings for the disabled toilet, lighting and acoustic solutions. This will be a fantastic help towards finishing this important building for Bridport Cohousing, which is a credit to the hard work and perseverance of its members.
We were also thrilled to receive a grant of £1,000 from the Wessex Water Environment Fund last year. This has been spent on two tanks for a rainwater harvesting system which will collect runoff from the Common House roof and be used to irrigate the community garden which is currently being designed by residents.
